Bed Bug Prep

✅ Declutter and Clean

Any old papers, books, movies, DVDs, or VHS tapes that are no longer in use should be discarded. Bed bugs can and will hide in these.
Rule of thumb: If you haven’t used it in the last 6 months, you likely won’t in the next 6.
Place all discarded items in a heavy-duty garbage bag, seal tightly with a zip tie, and transfer immediately to an outside garbage receptacle away from your dwelling.

✅ Clothing and Drawers

  • Remove all clothing and belongings from drawers, nightstands, tables, closets, and wardrobes.
  • Launder all items as directed below.
  • Transport all items in sealed bags or containers to prevent spreading bed bugs.
  • Discard transport bags immediately in an exterior garbage bin — do not reuse them.
  • Bag and launder any loose clothing found under beds or in closets.

✅ Laundry Directions (Important)

Laundered items must remain out of the treatment area.

  • Dry all garments on high heat for 15–30 minutes to kill bed bugs and their eggs.
  • Remove and bag all bedding, blankets, sheets, pillows, towels, and drapes from all rooms.
  • Keep clean laundry sealed until after the final treatment.
  • Store unused clothing in sealed bins or bags during treatment.
  • Do not return clean items to the treatment area until service is complete.

✅ Bedding, Pillows, and Drapery

  • Remove all bedding and pillows, place in sealed bags, and dry on high heat for 15–30 minutes.
  • Remove drapery, bag it, and either launder professionally or steam clean while hanging.

✅ Items on and Under Furniture

  • Move all items from dressers, beds, and nightstands to the center of the room.
  • Keep all furniture and belongings 18 inches from the wall.
  • Bag and dry any garments found under beds.
  • Do not move larger items previously stored under the bed — this can spread bed bugs.
  • Discard unneeded papers and clutter.

✅ Outlet and Light Switch Covers

  • Remove all electrical outlet, phone jack, and light switch covers in bedrooms and living areas for the first treatment.
  • Replace covers after the initial service once the technician advises.

✅ Wall Hangings

  • Remove all paintings, picture frames, mirrors, and wall décor — bed bugs often hide behind them.
  • Replace only after your technician confirms it’s safe to do so.

✅ Kitchen and Food

  • Seal all open food in ziplock bags or store it in the refrigerator.
  • Cover coffee pots and small appliances with plastic bags or towels.

✅ Cleaning Before Treatment

  • Vacuum, sweep, and mop all floors thoroughly before the technician arrives.
  • Discard the vacuum bag immediately in an exterior garbage bin.

✅ Mattress and Box Spring Covers

  • Purchase and install bed bug–rated zip covers for all mattresses and box springs before the first service.
  • Ask your technician for help if needed with installation.

💲 Cancellation Policy

Because of the nature of treatment, there will be a $75–$150 charge for cancellations less than 24 hours before your scheduled appointment.
✅ To avoid charges, call at least 24 hours before to reschedule or postpone your treatment.

🚪 During Treatment

  • You and your pets must vacate the premises during all treatments.
  • Do not return until at least 4 hours after service.
  • Fish aquariums may remain but must be covered with plastic and air filters disconnected.

⚠️ Important Warnings

  • 🚫 Do not change your sleeping location or throw away furniture. Doing so may spread bed bugs and disrupt treatment.
  • 🚫 Do not pile belongings on furniture. Beds, couches, and chairs are the main focus of treatment and must remain clear.

✅ After Treatment

⚠️ Warning: Bare flooring (wood, tile, etc.) may be slippery. Use caution and wipe any slippery floors with a towel, then launder the towel.

  • Enter your unit and open windows to ventilate, then exit for 30 minutes while ventilating.
  • Wash all surfaces (counters, tables, etc.) with soapy water.
  • Vacuum thoroughly once a day for two weeks.
  • Do not mop floors earlier than 24 hours before the first follow-up visit. Sweeping is fine.
  • Continue washing and drying all bedding twice a week until treatment is complete.

⚠️ Final Notice

Treatment will not be completed if preparation is not finished before service.
If a technician arrives and determines prep is incomplete, you may be charged a cancellation fee and rescheduled for a future date.
